The End of Matthew....

Well, I've officially finished with Matthew and started reading the book of Mark today. I love the fact that the Lord gave us four versions of the Gospel. It's so interesting to see what is included in each book and why some things are there and others aren't.

The thing that "stuck" with me most today was reading about God's love affair with His people, the Jews. It breaks my heart for Him when I read about how deeply He loves them and how He longs for them to believe that Christ is His Son.

I love the parable of the wedding feast in Matthew 22. It talks about how the King is putting on a wedding and He invited all of his friends and family and none of them responded to the invitation. So, instead, he sends out his servant to gather up the strangers who wandered the highways and they were able to enjoy the bounty of the feast. I am so thankful that God has extended His invitation to Heaven for those of us who aren't Jewish but it burdens my heart when I think of His chosen people who have not chosen Him.

God is good. I am thankful for His word.
