You know when you've heard a Biblical truth over and over and over and over again growing up (believe me, between Christian school, Sunday school, Church, Christian College, Teaching in a Christian School I"ve heard a lot of the same things!) and it isn't until one day they REALLY click with you? Well, that happened to me this morning.
I was getting ready in the bathroom and thinking about the new light bulb I just put in--you see, we were down a lightbulb for a few weeks and everytime I looked in the mirror I thought, gee--i guess I don't need to pluck my eyebrows--they look great! OR gee, I guess I don't need to wax that unsightly lip hair b/c I'm hair free--HA! But then, this week I've had the lightbulb in and have found so many imperfections and hairssss to pluck (gross) and I realized that I had no idea what I looked like when the light wasn't shining as brightly. I was content to be in the dark and content to have a face full of imperfections b/c I couldn't see them. In the same way, now that I'm spending more time in the Word I can see MANY more areas that I need to work on my life--areas that I was content to let fester and rot without the blazing light of God's truth shined upon them.
As A says, "This little light of mine...I"m gonna let is SHINE!" I guess I just needed a bulb check! Isn't God's Word great? It's NEW everyday to me.
